Seriously, how many times has this happened to you? Are you tired of it? Well so are we at ProjectBronco.COM and we've decided to do something about it. So, we attended the 2001 SEMA show and the 2001 AAPEX show in Las Vegas, NV and lobbied for more parts for the 351C/351M/400 engines. The SEMA show (Specialty Equipment Market Association) and the AAPEX show (Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo) are two of the largest automotive parts & equipment shows in the world. They say if you saw every display in both shows, you would have walked over 26 miles! We spoke with anyone and everyone who would listen, including Edelbrock, World, and TrickFlow, just to name a few!
One of the most influential people we found who would listen to our plight was a fellow named Smitty Smith, who is the Technical Department Manager for Edelbrock in Torrance, CA. We told Smitty about our love for the 351M/400 engines and mentioned to him that we felt it was an up & coming engine in the performance market. We also asked if Edelbrock had any plans to make an Air Gap manifold or aluminum cylinder heads for the 351M/400 engines in the future. Smitty just kind of smirked and remarked that they (Edelbrock) don't even make a Performer RPM manifold for the M engines, let alone the high tech stuff we're talking about.
He seemed quite disinterested at first, but then we mentioned the ProjectBronco.COM web site and the thousands of request we have received for more high-performance parts for the 351M/400 engines. Smitty then told us about the new Air Gap manifold for, get this, AMC V8 engines! That's right -- AMC, as in American Motors Corporation. He said, "The reason we are coming out with this new manifold is because of the large volume of emails we have received showing interest in the AMC engines". He told us that if we could generate enough support & interest in the 351M/400 engines -- and they received enough emails --- then they would consider coming out with new products for these engines.
What can I do to help?
So, how can you make your interest in the 351M/400 know? All you have to do is send an email to Edelbrock@Edelbrock.com and let them know the type of products you would like to buy for your engine. Just think about it! What do you want? Manifolds? Heads? Maybe a nice EFI system? A Supercharger? Shorty exhaust manifolds? Well then, tell them! WE HAVE TO BAND TOGETHER and let them know what we want, because if we don't, no one else will. If the Jeep guys can send enough emails to Edelbrock to get them to make a new, state-of-the-art manifold for AMC engines, then surely we as Ford owners can generate enough support for the M engines. Between the millions of Ford & Mercury cars, trucks, and vans made between 1971 and 1983 there should be enough interest for parts manufactures to make anything we want! So what are you waiting for? Click here and send your email now!
